The Hat Maker
Are you looking for a book that helps your kiddos work through difficult issues without even knowing they're doing it? Then this is the book for you.
Jeremy is a creative boy who loves to make things. He also loves the family store his family has owned for generations. He misses his dad, who died years before the story begins. With the store being threatened from outside sources, he makes it his mission to save the store at all costs.
When Jeremy discovers he has the ability to make magic hats with near limitless potential, he sells them to save his family store. But the results are disastrous for the town, and their situation is worse than before. Desperate not to lose the store, he sells one last hat to a mysterious magician who promises more than Jeremy ever dreamed possible. But instead, he gets more than he bargained for.
Discovering he has brought about the end of his town - and quite likely the whole world! - Jeremy must figure out how to stop the magic he created, and learn that parents usually do know what they're talking about.
Setting: The book is set in a small town called Brafton, but it could be anywhere, honestly. It is filled with whimsical residents. It is a fictional location, hopefully created so readers are able to imagine something near them.
Age Range: 8 to 12
Book Lessons: Seth Wilks peppered in all kinds of lessons for young readers, including the importance of choosing family over material things, the importance of listening to parents and other appropriate authority figures, the pitfalls and consequences of lying, and even when you're absolutely certain you can do something on your own, it's always alright to ask for help.
