You might be thinking ...
Why are there so many categories?
As a Middle Grade reader, or as someone who makes decisions for middle grade readers, categories matter a whole lot.
Sure, you could just look for a regular old category like action and adventure, or science fiction, or fantasy ... or whatever. But when you do that, you're just going to get a bunch of books. But what if you know a child that's dealing with bullying, or body image, or is scared of the dark, or something else? Lots of times it's difficult to get our kids to listen to us for the one simple reason that we're adults and they're kids.
So what can you do?
You can give them a book to read. If they're dealing with bullying and they like reading science fiction books, why not give them a book in a category that includes both of those things? What if you know a young girl dealing with her body image? Why not give her a book that deals with that?
Now do you see the importance of these categories?
Hopefully, you're on board by now, and if you are, all we ask is that you join our mailing list. You'll get daily updates on book deals, and a weekly newsletter that highlights books added to the site, featured authors, featured books, featured categories, and even blog updates.
